LIST OF THINGS TO PRAY

July 8, 2013

I was blessed with the preaching I attended two years ago from a woman pastor in World International Ministries- Naga City. It was about the prayer and how powerful it is. She recalled all tragedies happening in different parts of the world, the Philippines was always spared. Yes, we had storms but they are considered a common disaster in the country and we’re always surviving it nonetheless. But how about earthquakes and tsunamis that killed thousand lives in other countries? She believed it is because there are lots of Christians that are praying for our country and I believe in her as well. She said she had different list of different prayer points to pray every day.
I was inspired to do this so I created my own list as well. And start praying for them. I did this for months and I lost the time to pray for them. But while I am doing this, all the more I crave for other things to pray for. Now the Lord is bringing back the fire in my heart to intercede and this time, He added more in my prayer list. I asked God to help to become a prayer warrior to intercede with the all things that are happening in this world. Who will intercede in behalf of those lost souls except us? I believe it is not just enough to pray for our family, for our church that we belong but all the things that are happening in this world. He said in Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication let your request be known unto God”.
And we are also responsible for our own generation just like what Daniel did in his time. In Daniel 9:3-19, he is praying for his nation. He knew that Jerusalem is nearly approaching destruction and he stood up for his nation. We are tasked to do the same. How? By prayer and supplication. Jesus promised in John 14:13-14, whatever we asked in His name, He will do it.
I posted this to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ to pray. This might sound too many and overwhelming but once you started it as a habit, you will want to pray more just like what I experienced before. I want to redeem the time and start praying for them. You can have your own list and pray for all the items I posted here. You might want to add them as well.

GOAL SETTING

I still spent a couple of days at boarding house to regain all the strength I need to get myself ready for the new job. Seriously, after my resignation, the on and off fever was gone. I know that the solution is just simple: quit my job asap!
As a part of the rest, I spend time fixing my stuff and reading articles that will bring me new inputs. I read the article entitled 101 Ways to Live Your Life to the Fullest. What captured me most is to create a handbook where you can write down your dreams and goals in life. I realized I need to do it. I need to do some planning and to I don’t need to be surprised that some of them were not really accomplished.
So I planned again. I created my goals and search my heart what would I really like to do in my life. I realized I was too focused on earthly things- accumulating wealth and worldly materials that will provide temporary satisfaction with my life. That’s the reason why some of them were not achieved yet. God is not part of it. I prayed and still read the bible. I always ask for His guidance. But I realize He is not my top priority and I am soooo ashamed for proclaiming myself a Christian!

I still thank God that He allowed me to realize this. I prayed for my goals. I broke it down to short-term, mid-term, long-term, and the most important one: my lifetime goal. My lifetime goal is to honor God in everything I do and to spread the gospel across the world. I prayed to God that He will be my priority.
